the tile guy hates us

well he may not hate us but he probably hates our house. yesterday we were so excited because the tile guy was supposed to start. so we go see the house in the evening and he'd done the fireplace, the guest shower, and the master bath. the problem is the only thing that was right was the master bath. he'd used the wrong tile in the guest bath and the fireplace was supposed to be the same stone as the outside decorative rock. oops. so i email jeff and tell him what the deal is. he says no worries it'll get fixed. apparently the builder shows up this morning and tears down everything he did yesterday and throws it (very hard) in a big pile in the garage. we weren't expecting much to be done today but we were pleasantly surprised. the kitchen/eating area, the entrance and laundry room, and the guest bath all have the floors done. and it looks dang good.
this is hilarious because paul had to lift cole so he wouldn't step on the tile. however he kind of looks like he's floating.
laundry room as you'd see it from the garage

more good news. they got all the outside stone done. i had to climb the scaffolding to get the close up of course.

the pillar by the front door and how the front step will look.

how it all comes together.
panorama :)

these ones are for "people" that have told me they don't get the difference in the corners. hopefully seeing them side by side makes it easier to tell the difference.

bull nosed corners

here's what all the hoopla was about

well the bull-nosed corners are in and just need the finishing touches to make them look pretty. here is paul loving his corners.

closer view

the awesome patio. we thought the concrete would just go to the pillars but jeff had a much better plan. looks like enough room to put an outdoor fireplace on the part that sticks out.

as you can see the concrete isn't poured yet and here is why. the concrete guys set up the forms for a 2 car driveway. well we decided to do a 2 1/2 car garage but concrete for a 3 car driveway so we have a place to park police cars other than in the street. dan and sharla had our back and when they saw the forms going up they went and told the concrete guys that was wrong. however the gas line and water line run where the 3rd car would go so they need to be lowered before anything can be poured.

we've got mail (well not really) but we could...

cause we've got a mailbox! they started pushing dirt around so they can do the driveway, walkway, and patio. the patio design is awesome unfortunately i don't have any pictures of it (ha sucka). but we stopped by jeff's office on the way home and he said they're going to start pouring concrete tomorrow morning so then i'll show you what it's going to look like.
see. for some reason we don't have any mail yet. Hmmmm sharla and dan?

they finished half the rock. i like it now that more of it's done cause before it didn't seem to be different enough from the brick color but now that there's lots of it i love it. if you don't shush.

you can see on the top left what part of the rock they still have to do. apparently this week they are going to pour concrete and fix/change the corners inside. then next week it's tile time.

i really need to be more observant

apparently the pillars have been done for a few days. however i have not realized that. nor did i realize it today until paul told me. i was too busy stepping in the mortar/mud outside the back door.well last chance to see the living room like this. i don't mean that next time it will be painted and have flooring. i WOULD have meant that but one of the things paul wanted in the house was bull-nosed corners (read:rounded). they don't come standard but the show home we saw had them so he thought they were standard. we are now taking a step back and going to do the living room/kitchen area instead of the whole house. i can't say i'm going to notice the corners but i know that i don't want to hear paul for the next thirty years going "i wish we'd have done the rounded corners"...love you :)

look they even swept...you know that means they were getting ready to floor

and for your viewing pleasure our lovely neighbor doing a handstand in full uniform. look at how scared paul looks.

hurrah for walls

they started on the decorative rock on the outside. so that'll finally put some color in our completely bland house. they also finished putting up sheet rock...it was a pretty productive day considering i got there at noon and they'd already taken off to start celebrating cinco de mayo...hee hee
nice reflection of paul...he makes an appearance in a couple of these
close up-not sure if the ones didn't want to stick or they couldn't find the right size. paul started picking up ones that were on the ground saying "this would be easy to put together"

i'm trying to remember to take different views- this is from the bay window area in the bedroom. you can see out the front door and paul is coming out of the bathroom (typical guy)

you can see how much sunlight this room gets from the dust particles that are visible in the air. the little closet on the left is the pantry.
here you go dad a picture of your room...and you get your very own window. don't try to climb out it at night.

i think they ran out of bricks

which is surprising considering there seemed to be an abundance of them. there' s like three different spots on the house that need to be bricked still and i think it's gone unless they are hiding it somewhere. they also started doing sheet rock...but only the top half of the house.

my fave view- i can picture the cookouts

master bedroom- check out the sweet ceiling

the lovely arches. the part in the middle will be painted the accent color

the great room/kitchen

the closet got pants too (bottom half finished)- not that you can tell what it is

two days in a row

if i can take new pics two days in a row you know they're moving fast
i'm guessing this is one of the last times the walls will be see through so for your viewing pleasure...dah dah dah dah

niiiiiiiiiiiice

cole and moosey goosey...told you he climbed on the sheet rock
all the outer walls have been insulated
